Hi there,
Hope everybody had a good day yesterday for those in the Northern hemisphere and the day before for those in the Southern Hemisphere. It was great to chat to both sides of the family and our friends who we could track down. Hope the nieces in Germany are no longer sugared out ......no thanks to Uncle Chris who sent traditional English fare such as christmas pudding along with brandy butter in the family Santa parcel! Hmm....just as well some of the gifts..(hand made chocolate I'm told) got lost in the Christmas mail and hopefully will be delivered in a couple of days allowing sufficient recovery time for blood sugar levels to return to normal!
Easy for us the aunt and uncle in SoCal.We were up and at it early..checked out santa's pressies then did a decent sprint session on our bikes ..me? busting my butt and breathing hard, legs turning to jelly....Chris? on my wheel coaching me....whispering sweet nothings ..NOT...yelling as all coaches do.. "go!go!go!" and asking for more wattage than I thought possible! It was short and sweet and then home to make lunch for friends who were coming around at 12.30 -1.00pm. Sitting in the sun in Encinitas drinking vintage champagne, eating our fill of roast lamb and all the trimmings was just what the doctor ordered. Not having to worry about sugared out small people..priceless!
It was a fun day for us all and even better that I am on my 'put some weight on my bones in preparation for Africa plan'. I'm eating like a horse and there's no better time to do it than now. Holiday season is not yet over and I know that there will be days in Sudan that I long for chocolate and a hunk of New Zealand lamb or a turkey leg so I'm making the most of it.
Hope everybody is well, don't forget...sunblock for family and friends downunder and dermatome for family and friends above.
Cheers
Here's a thought.....
Standing in the middle of the road is very dangerous; you get knocked down by the traffic from both sides.

...........ahhh! just as well there are no solid roads in parts of Africa where I'll be traveling.......one just has to choose a side, choose a path and pedal!!
