Here's a thought.....

Standing in the middle of the road is very dangerous; you get knocked down by the traffic from both sides.
- Margaret Thatcher

...........ahhh! just as well there are no solid roads in parts of Africa where I'll be traveling.......one just has to choose a side, choose a path and pedal!!

I'm on my way!

Well, it's Tuesday 3pm here in Terminal 4 at Heathrow Airport London and I don't know whether it's time to eat breakfast - USA time or pour myself a glass of wine - UK time! My flight to Cairo leaves in 1.5 hours and as I was wandering towards the departure gates found an internet cafe so thought I'd pop in and do a quick post.

It's really strange not to have Chris here with me and it was hard leaving and saying goodbye to him in the states yesterday. I did tell him that should he get the urge to fly over and say hello and make a celebrity guest appearance somewhere along the TDA 2008 route could he not forget to bring copious amounts of cold coke and chocolate!! The coke for me..yes..I'm resigned to the fact based on past experience that when in Northen Africa one drinks coke and not the water and someone else in the group I'll be riding with will bound to appreciate the chocolate.

So my new bike got packed up, the airline didn't charge me extra and so fingers crossed that at this point in time it is being loaded onto my plane to Cairo and not partaking in a disappearing act sans my Kelly. Sunday was madness packing and making sure I had it all. TDA is apparently putting a weight limit on our permanent bags which go on top of the support truck Doris and so a couple of tires didn't make the cut but protein bars, gels and spare inner tubes certainly did.

OK, boarding call just came over the intercom and I could hear it above the Goo Goo Dolls on my ipod and so like a fair maiden I must away.

Next post..Cairo.
Love you all...P.S. sorry Jane I couldn't download the New Years Eve party 'cougar sandwhich' photo for the blog ..it will have to be a post trip blog photo.
OK..I'm really going..later..a race awaits me....
Cheers
